Scheltema is the building of the former Scheltema textile factory on the corner of Oude Singel & Marktsteeg, directly next to Museum ‘De Lakenhal’. Scheltema is used as a location for contemporary art and musical theatre, including workshops, performances, lectures and concerts.

Excursions

The Organizing Committee facilitates various activities, as listed below. These can be reserved at the time of registration, or by adding them to your existing registration before June 30, 2019. For some activities there is a limited number of participants, and admission is done on a first come, first served basis.

Guided bicycle tour through the dunes

Cost: € 25 per person

The ecological variety and particular location make the Dutch dunes a popular area with Holland’s urbanites. One moment you’re cycling along the wide beaches through the dunes, the next through a dense forest. The dunes close to Leiden run along the North Sea coast from seaside towns Scheveningen to Katwijk, to north of Noordwijk and Zandvoort. Outside of the busy weekends and summer, it is peaceful here, an oasis of calm.

Guided tour Amsterdam - Rijksmuseum

Cost: € 50 per person                                                                                                                                                                        

Visit one of Amsterdam’s grandest and most popular museums, the Rijksmuseum. Its vast collection showcases iconic art and a wide variety of artefacts that reflect over 800 years of Dutch and global history, including jaw dropping paintings by the likes of Rembrandt, Van Gogh and countless other Dutch masters.

Guided tour Zaanse Schans

Cost: € 40 per person (note: a minimum of 20 persons is required)

Enjoy the world-famous Dutch polder landscapes while walking on a guided tour along Zaanse Schans. Visit a windmill and discover everything about old Dutch handicrafts, such as canvas weaving, and cheese and clog making. After the walk, you will take a boat trip over the river Zaan and enjoy a delicious cup of coffee or tea on board. The captain will vividly recount the rich industrial past of the Zaan region.

Guided tour Leiden Canal Cruise

Cost: € 27.50 per person (note: a minimum of 20 persons is required)

Discover Leiden from the water! The shipping company will take you through the beautiful canals of Leiden to show you the attractions of the historic city. During the canal cruise, you will enjoy some drinks and typical Dutch snacks whilst receiving information about the sights.
