The EUROCARB 2019 symposium brought together an international community of carbohydrate chemists and researchers in a vibrant and diverse setting. Held under the banner of the European Carbohydrate Organisation, the congress celebrated the breadth of the field, from fundamental structural chemistry to applied glycobiology. Attendees engaged in plenary sessions, keynote addresses, and contributed talks, alongside poster presentations and flash oral sessions that showcased emerging work. The meeting was widely regarded as a success, thanks to the active participation of presenters, the generosity of sponsors, and the tireless efforts of volunteers who helped keep the programme running smoothly throughout the week.
Beyond the scientific programme, the conference fostered a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere where participants could connect and share ideas late into the evening. The social agenda, including the conference dinner and dance, contributed to a sense of community that extended well beyond the lecture halls. The organising team, drawn from Leiden University and the Leiden Institute of Chemistry, worked closely with professional congress management to ensure every detail was handled with care. From accommodation and city directions to the overall venue experience, attendees were well supported, making EUROCARB 2019 an unforgettable and rewarding gathering for all involved.
